Short-term LCD Shortages open opportunities for new suppliers and increases prices

Multiple manufacturers like Renesas are concerned about running out of inventory of electronic components in June. As a result of unmet demands, Renesas fears customers could switch to different suppliers. This could handicap Renesas’ turnovers in the long-term.

Samsung however, expects the LCD market to quickly rebound. This may result in an increase of prices by 5 to 10 percent in the second half of the year because of a LCD panel shortage.

Production cuts and delayed product launches still follow Japan crisis

Automakers like Toyota Motor Corp, Nissan Motor Co. and Honda Motor Co. are still struggling due to uncertainty of the supply chain from Japanese auto parts suppliers.  Honda is likely to halve production at its India plant.  Toyota, seemingly hit harder, is estimated to produce only 30 percent of normal capacity through June 4.
